BIOTU

In times of technological advancement such as what we have now achieved in our society, some just cannot help but regret on the development of new sciences that in fact lead to some biological destruction of every form of life on Earth. There is just too many to tell, as behind those silent murmurs of the environment is the question whether we are indeed worthy to be called as stewards and protectors of biological life on Earth.

Hazardous fumes and emissions from every chemical plant continue to harm our environment, more so with the everyday routine in the busy streets of more than a thousand cities all over the world with all the cars and buses adding to the problem. We see pollutants everywhere—we, humans, might as well be considered pollutants too, a physically powerful one who is proven to be a biological destroyer of nature since the time of history.

Indoor or outdoor, we can be harmful contributors to the worsening level of pollution in our communities. It is just so ironic that as global warming continues to warn everyone that everything on Earth will soon become scarce and eventually extinct, more and more people are buying more products that provoke more sudden climate changes that will result to more serious situation in the near future.

Therefore, in the environmentalist’s point of view, there could hardly be a science that can be safe to be called non-polluting at all, for in every endeavor there are risks and sacrifices to pay, and we know, that in the capitalist’s perspective, this means taking the juice by all means. No wonder almost every mining site in every rich land has already been exploited, and people—who have been wondering about how the frequent occurrence of natural disasters such as landslides and earthquakes now surface to seek retribution—might have already forgotten about the biological forces that will really start to haunt us back for our evil, wicked ways to consume the environment’s resources.

As predicted, deaths and all natural calamities will continue to rise if this biological chaos cannot be held under control. This will result to at least 300,000 deaths in every succeeding year, a figure that is also expected to double in extreme cases of global warming, air and water pollution, and natural disasters that are feared to strike even countries that are known to be prepared for such crises.

If we cannot take part in keeping these variables under control, we might never be able to stop the dreaded year of the history where everything will just start falling exponentially—welfare, business, livelihood, even technology. Without its foundation, technology cannot continue to grow if we do not take care of our biological resources that sustain the life of every science that we have discovered and developed. Just as a silent wildfire can destroy an entire mountain including all the life relying to its richness, so can the biological forces be thieves to rob everything from us humans—most probably when we least expect it.
